Good morning friends and family,

May has been a rough month. We’ve spent the majority of the month in Minnesota where I was in the hospital while Lacey and the girls stayed at my moms. I was discharged from the hospital after completing a course of IV antibiotics. However, my lung functions remain in the mid to lower 50%.

Through all of this, Lacey and I are confident that we should continue on with our schedule as planned for the upcoming months. Check out our schedule below.

MAY 26:
Nathan and Lacey leave to teach Marriage conference in Peru.

JUNE 16:
Return to Alaska

MID/LATE JULY:
Leave Alaska

Please continue to keep our family in your prayers. Also, if you’ve missed any of our weekly emails you can check them out below.

LYDIA’S HEELS
May 1, 2017

In light of Nathan’s most recent hospitalization, I thought this blog post from Nathan’s last hospitalization in 2014 was appropriate.

“I WILL NEVER BE HAPPY AGAIN UNTIL I GET THOSE HEELS! ONLY HEELS WILL MAKE ME HAPPY! I WILL NEVER BE SAD AGAIN IF ONLY I GET MY HEELS!”

Please continue to pray for our family, our girls, and Nathan’s health…

IS GOD A DRILL SERGEANT OR A MECHANICAL ENGINEER?
May 8, 2017

I want to thank all of you for your continued prayers for me and my family while I’ve been in the hospital.

I THINK FOR ALL OF US GOING THROUGH DIFFICULT SEASONS — YOU KNOW THOSE TIMES WHEN OUR NEED TO DEPEND UPON GOD IS AT ITS GREATEST — THE TEMPTATION TO WAVER FROM OUR FAITH IN HIM SEEMS TO BE THE STRONGEST.

Currently the doctor’s are planning on discharging me May 17 as long as my pulmonary function tests increase.

It is incredible to see God move even when it feels like we’ve been side-lined…

WHY SHOULD I BE JOYFUL WHEN I’M SUFFERING?
May 15, 2017

So, the long-story short is that recently after my husband’s quarterly doctor’s appointment it was recommended that he should be hospitalized to help improve his lung capacity score. He has Cystic Fibrosis so this happens every few years.

THIS CLIPPING OF FAMILIARITY ALLOWS US TO SEE [GOD’S] CHARACTER CLEARLY WITHOUT DISTRACTION. THIS GIVES US THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRUST HIM AND RECEIVE PEACE DIRECTLY FROM HIM.

In order to facilitate a hospitalization, our family has to relocate to Minnesota for the duration of his stay which usually lasts about a month. For various complicated and uncomplicated reasons, these hospitalizations never feel fun. They are expensive, exhausting, and emotionally…

HOW ARE WE HOLDING UP?
May 22, 2017

We wanted to send a quick email out to you to update you on how our family is doing.

After finishing 21 days of IV antibiotics, Nathan was released from the hospital. It is great having him back as my parenting team mate however, it does come with some discouragement. Although he was released, his lung function remains around the mid to lower 50%. This is down about 5-10% from what it has been the past few years. And the progression of the disease is generally that any ground lost is usually never regained…

God bless,

P.S. I would love to hear back from you. If you have any comments from this week’s email or prayer requests you would like to share with us, our email is: hello@nathanlaceysteel.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
